a. Listening to a recording, Therefore you will watch 1 live stream concerts that are archived on the CSUStan Music Department website: https://livestream.com/stanstatemusic.
NOT all concerts are eligible – Christmas concerts, those that are visiting “youth” ensembles, guitar studio, and student recitals are NOT eligible.
Eligible concerts include: Stan State Wind Ensemble, Chorale, Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Ensembles; any faculty recitals, or guest artist recitals, e.g., Cae Vieira, Carlos Santi, Manuel Espinas.
Guidelines for the reports: 1) Each report should be a minimum of 2 FULL pages long – a full page is 23 typed lines (please use 12 pt. Times, or Times New Roman, double spaced, with 1” margins – you may need to adjust the margins, or you’ll end up short). Use a cover sheet with your name, and the name and date of the concert you attended included on it.
The report should consist of a short write-up of EACH PIECE on the program. List the name of the piece, and write about it. For concerts that may not list the songs on the program, you can just list 1st song, 2nd song, etc. But you need to write about EACH ONE! Don’t babble on about nothing, talk about the MUSIC. a. DO NOT give me the musician’s or composer’s bios. b. DO NOT give me descriptions of the pieces copied from any notes included in the program. c. ANY copying of information from Wikipedia, or other websites is plagiarism and will result in a zero for your paper
I think it is best that you write as you listen, but however it works best for you is fine. I would like you to describe and comment on, in your own words, what you are hearing. As we learn more vocabulary during the course, try and incorporate that into your comments. 5) Please include your reactions. Did you like the piece? Did you not like it? Why? Be brief – don’t try and fill space by dragging on and on about how a song made you feel – I will simply subtract those sentences from your total lines, and you’ll get a reduction in points.
