Next, we will discuss the major functions the manager uses to be a successful manager. The first function that a manager needs to be proficient at is planning. When discussing planning with the manager that I interviewed it was particularly important to plan in advance. In the daily routine as a manager you must first plan the amount of flights that are landing and taking off in the day. With this information, you must plan on how many jet bridges are available therefore you can schedule departures accordingly. For example, if you have six jet bridges you can have six flights spread out for five minutes each. With this information the manager will know how many agents will be required. When planning employees as a manager it starts with following the budget which is roughly twenty hours available per flight. Based on the available budget hours, determines how many employees work per flight/per day.
