Your task for this assignment is to choose a recent media article/story (newspaper, CNN, online news source, etc.) within the last decade that relates to Restorative Justice (it needs to relate to different concepts than your first media paper). The paper should contain the following information:
A brief summary of the chosen news article.
Explanation of how the piece relates to the course material (referencing material from the course. This may seem obvious, but a detailed explanation needs to be provided
Provide an argument for whether or not the subject/topic in the article is a problem. This needs to be more than an opinion. It is an evidence-based argument. Your argument should be supported by peer-reviewed academic sources (at least two), in addition to lecture material, and/or the textbook. If it is a problem you will need to propose a solution, or explain how it is already effectively being addressed, if it is not, provide an explanation for why. For example, in the case of Restorative Justice, it might be used to address juvenile substance abuse in an area. You will make an evidence-based argument that Restorative Justice is an effective or ineffective way to address this problem.
A paper should be in APA format
A paper should be 2 to 3 pages (no more than 4 pages); Double-spaced, typed, 1-inch margins, and 12 point font.
Quotes of more than one sentence should be single-spaced and indented (per APA format), and don’t count toward the page limit.
At least two peer-reviewed academic sources are needed. If you are struggling to find some check the reference pages of your textbooks for sources to look up or ask the instructor.
Reference list of academic sources** cited in text also not included in page count. All scholarly work must be referenced according to APA citation format.
All individual papers must be submitted to Canvas, which includes an originality check.
