Final Term Paper: Just a commodity – victims of human trafficking.
Some notes for the writer:
· This paper is a comparative study on a transnational crime of human trafficking between two model nations France and Saudi Arabia. The purpose of this assignment is to 1) analyze contributing factors to the crime rates in each country, 2) identify the similarities and differences between the two countries in their approach to criminal justice, and 3) provide current specific examples (from the media) of the crime and societal reactions to the crime.
· Topic: Just a commodity – victims of human trafficking.
Is it an international or transnational crime? Transnational Crime
Briefly describe the topic and its importance. Human trafficking is considered modern-day slavery. The ability for countries to accept low-skilled workers from poor or over-populated countries provides a false narrative for the workers. They voluntarily migrate to countries for what they think will be a better life through a better job. They can eventually fall victim to human trafficking crimes in their new country by their laborer. The victims are targeted because they are vulnerable and trafficked between countries or cities forcefully. Human trafficking can also lead to additional crimes that is an ever flow of transnational crimes.
Two countries we are comparing? Why? Saudi Arabia and France are the countries I’m choosing. Although human trafficking is not a leading transnational crime in Saudi Arabia, they still are considered a Tier 3 country (based on the US’s discretion). Sacred Law is a law that not many of us Americans are familiar with, so it’s important to understand how countries like Saudi Arabi handle their justice system when it comes to human trafficking. France has taken human trafficking extremely seriously and has put much effort in fighting this crime. Fighting human trafficking is one of France’s priorities in protecting the human rights. They’ve adopted many new plans against this crime and I think it’s important to learn about their aggressive plans and commitment to fighting it. Human trafficking is one of the most lucrative forms of trafficking worldwide. Money is power. We can all be victim of this crime either while traveling or working oversees and it’s important to understand what we are up against, no matter where we are.
