In Chapter 7, “The Environment – Part II,” Hite and Seitz (2016) discuss the existing tension between development and the environment. Development brings economic growth as well as social and environmental changes. To a developing country, economic growth may be of a higher priority than the consequences to the long-term health of its citizens or its environment. On the other hand, poverty can also harm the environment, such as when searching for land to farm contributes to deforestation.
Do wealthy nations using the labor of developing nations have responsibilities to the people and environment of that country? Why or why not? Be sure to use examples of existing companies to support your response.

RE: Week 10 Discussion
Good Morning Everyone,
I personally do not believe that using the labor of developing nations gives wealthy nations responsibility to the people and environment, only if the people within that country are able to make money and a living conducting the labor. However, I do not believe that these countries should be obligated to work for free or work for little money and not be able to maintain their livelihood. For instance, Google has 56,000 employees worldwide and they take pride in health and wellness and they provide their employees with free food during the work day. If a company in a nation treats their employees good and find ways to give back to the community and pay their proper taxes, I believe that they are taking enough responsibility for that country and the environment. I believe that they should get more involved with protecting the environment and practice good habits.
